WinXP Clear Page file on shutdown
Go to Control panel Administrative tools, local security policy. then goto local policies ---> security options.
Then change the option for "Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory Pagefile"

The author has described how to "clear" the pagefile on shutdown but does not explain what this means or why it should be done. The fact of the matter is, few people will have a good reason do do this.
Clearing the pagefile means overwriting every byte with zeros. This must be done during shutdown because the file is locked for exclusive access while Windows is runnning. This will increase shutdown times, possibly considerably.
There are NO performance gains from doing this, none whatsoever.
It is sometimes done as a security measure but this really makes sense as part of a comprehensive security policy. By itself it is of little value.
